Dr. Abdul-Aziz and his EWREL lab moved to the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the West Virginia University, Morgantown as of Fall 2015. Please contact him at email@example.com
Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at FIU. My research is highly interdisciplinary, incorporating topics related to the coupled human-natural systems and sustainability sciences and engineering from at-site to regional to global scales. I collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, climatologists, biogeochemists, biologists, ecologists, and socio-economic scientists. My lab emphasizes the ecological, biogeochemical, hydrological, and water quality aspects of Water Resources Engineering. My team aims to develop sustainable Ecological Engineering guidelines, designs, and practices by incorporating ecological and biological sciences into the traditional physical/chemical science based Water Resources Engineering. Our goal is to facilitate and devise ecosystem-based designs of water resources infrastructure for achieving sustainability at variable time and space scales under the changing climate, population, land use/cover, and socio-economic stress scenarios.

Ecological-Water Resources Engineering Research Interests:
- Scaling, similitude, & organizing principles of hydrological, biogeochemical, ecological, and water quality processes.
- Robust modeling and predictions of ecohydrological, hydroecological, and water quality variables.
- Modeling of wetland biogeochemistry, major greenhouse gas (CO2, CH4, and N2O) emissions, and carbon sequestration.
- Climate change impacts on water resources & related ecosystems.
- Modeling of stormwater flooding in complex urban environments
